The Paterson Task Force for Community Action has moved its headquarter from Ellison Street to Washington Street, announced the organization Monday afternoon. The Task Force relocated its office from 155 Ellison Street to a spacious 7,500 square feet office at 109 Washington Street in order to expand its offerings.

“Paterson Task Force in the past year has grown its capacity with new programs and additional staff,” Executive Director of the Task Force Lana Stokes said in a statement. “We anticipate this growth to continue, therefore, we had to relocate to a large space to accommodate our new programs.”

The non-profit which was established in 1964 currently offers fair housing counseling, nutrition and homeless shelters, commercial driver’s license training, computer and customer service training, and home energy and weatherization assistance. The organization intends to expand its services by offering wait staff training, furniture refurbishing, and other training programs this spring.

The Task Force will occupy one of the former properties of Greenbaum Interiors. “This is more than just a lease agreement, but a collaboration between the private sector and a not for profit agency that has been assisting the residents of Paterson for more than fifty years,” Susan Greenbaum-Gross, president of Greenbaum Interiors, said.

Greenbaum-Gross said her company will assist the non-profit with new training programs. Greenbaum-Gross said this will allow not only her business to grow and prosper but also assist city residents by equipping them with much needed training, and overall help the city to grow economically.

The Task Force assists needy city residents by arming them with skills that will allow them to move out of poverty. The organization is funded through federal, state, county, and city grants.
