Paterson Task Force offering energy assistance

The non-profit Paterson Task Force is taking applications for Home Energy and Universal Service Fund (USF) programs to offer low-income Passaic County residents assistance with their gas and electricity bills.

Where to pick up applications:

213 Broadway from Monday-Friday 9 am to 3 pm.
109 Washington Street from Monday-Friday 9 am to 3 pm and Thursdays until 7 pm.

14 Myrtle Avenue Fridays only from 10 am to 3 pm.

Prospect Park
106 Brown Avenue from Monday 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm and beginning Saturday, March 28, every other Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm.

The program is funded through a grant the task force received from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to process applications for the federally funded Home Energy Assistance program (HEA) and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Both program help needy residents with heating and cooling costs.

The task force was founded in 1964 to assist impoverished city residents improve their quality of life and become self-sufficient by tackling the causes effects of poverty.

To be eligible a household’s gross income must be at or below 200-percent of the federal poverty level.
