City police arrested three people recovering 6,714 bags of heroin and $5,253 in cash during a drug bust on Keen Street on Friday afternoon, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Police arrested city residents Jesus Perez, 19; Shameek Soto, 23; and Michael Calva, 24, during Friday’s bust that took place at about 4:50 p.m. Detectives conducted an investigation at 86 Keen Street which resulted police searching a residence and a vehicle, said Speziale.

Perez and Soto were charged with drug possession, possession with the intent to distribute within a school – School 10 — zone, and possession with the intent to distribute near a senior citizen building — Nathan Barnert Senior Residence.

Perez and Soto had 105 glassine of heroin, said police. Calva had 6,609 glassines of heroin, the director said.

Calva has been charged with various drug offenses including possession and distribution as well as distribution near a school and senior building. Speziale said $5,253 in suspected drug proceeds was also confiscated from Calva.

“Other organizations assist our narcotics division in hitting the lower-level dealers, which attacks the demand,” said Speziale. “Paterson narcotics division will continue to focus on disrupting and dismantling the larger scale organizations and dealers.”
