City police arrested a 31-year-old alleged drug dealer on North 3rd Street on Thursday afternoon, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Warren J. Palmer also known as “X” was arrested on drug charges at about 5 p.m. on North 3rd and Temple Streets.

Palmer was found with 10 baggies of crack-cocaine, 14 baggies of marijuana, and a loaded Remington 45 caliber semi-auto handgun without a permit, said Speziale.

Speziale said Palmer has been charged with crack-cocaine possession, intent to distribute, intent to distribute in a school zone, and intent to distribute near a park.

School 4 is less than 1,000 feet and Lester Titus Park is less than 400 feet from where Palmer was arrested.

Palmer has also been charged with marijuana possession, intent to distribute, intent to distribute near both park and school, said the director.

Palmer has a previous felony conviction which bars him from possessing a handgun. He was arrested with a loaded .45 caliber semi-auto Remington handgun without a permit. The director said Palmer has been charged with gun possession, possession while distributing drugs, and carrying a handgun despite being a convicted felon (persons not to have a handgun).

“45 caliber weapon is a powerful handgun and could do serious damage to life and property, this is a great seizure,” said Speziale. “Removing this 45 caliber from the street is a major accomplishment towards our goal of making the city gun free.”
