A city drug dealer allegedly hid heroin envelopes inside a rock wall of a 12th Avenue home after wrapping it in a newspaper, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Tyheshe Nazareth, 38-year-old, was caught on surveillance on Monday taking drugs out of a rock wall in front of 5 12th Avenue each time he had a customer. Nazareth was observed repeatedly approaching pedestrians and vehicles that stopped for a brief period.

Each time Nazareth accepted money he walked to the wall. “There he would remove a newspaper from the wall, retrieve items from inside of it and place the newspaper back in the wall,” Berdnik said. “He would then walk back to the individual and turn over the items, completing the suspected narcotics transaction.”

Detectives recovered 149 glassine envelopes of heroin worth $600 from Nazareth after they retrieved the newspaper. Nazareth was placed under arrest under two counts of drug possession and intent to distribute, authorities said.

“I wanted to commend the Officers involved in making this arrest,” Berdnik said. “This suspect, broad daylight used newspapers as a method of hiding various narcotic transactions.”
