Sheriff recovers two semi-automatic handguns

Two semi-automatic firearms were recovered on Tuesday, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.
Authorities located a .45 caliber Witness semi-automatic handgun underneath a discarded mattress that was on the sidewalk in front of 393 East 21st Avenue at around 9:45 p.m., authorities said.
The second weapon a .45 caliber Fabrique National semi-automatic handgun was located inside a white box on Harrison Street and Jelsma Place.
Neither of the two weapons were loaded authorities said.
