City police officers recovered two firearms and 14 ammunitions with the help of vigilant residents, said police director Jerry Speziale on Wednesday morning.

Recovered were a 9mm Luger C9 handgun on East 22rd Street on Tuesday afternoon and a .32 caliber NEF Revolver on Park Avenue early Wednesday morning.

Police acting on a tip responded to 700 block of East 23rd Street at about 12:38 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers C. Suriel and M. Torres recovered the 9mm Luger C9 and five live rounds, said the director.

Officer R. Curving and K-9 “Lannie” responded to 325 Park Avenue at about 12:25 a.m. on Wednesday on a property check. Curving and the police dog found a bag that contained the revolver along with nine live rounds of ammunition.

Speziale said police officers did not make any arrests at the two locations, but praise the solid relationship between local law enforcement and the community.

“The collaboration between the community and our department further substantiates our legitimacy in the community and their support,” said Speziale. “Together we will achieve a safer Paterson in continuing to remove dangerous weapons from our community.”
