City police arrested an alleged drug dealer, recovered 68 glassines of heroin, issued 10 motor vehicle violations, and cited 80 ordinance violation during a weekend crime suppression detail, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Speziale said the two-day operation conducted on Friday and Saturday involved the Ceasefire Unit, the Narcotics Unit, and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office. He said the 80 ordinance violations mostly dealt with obstruction of public passage, obstruction of commercial establishment, and public drinking.

Police addressed 21 high crime areas in the city like Park Avenue.

“The crime suppression details have become effective in reducing the calls for quality-of-life and violent crime in our city,” said Speziale. The director said the operations are conducted with assistance from local residents concerned about crime plaguing their neighborhoods.
