Bronx man found guilty of kidnapping, molesting eight-year-old Paterson girl

A 40-year-old Bronx, New York man was found guilty Tuesday afternoon of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an eight-year-old Paterson girl, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Arcadio J. Nova was found guilty after a jury trial before Passaic County Judge Marilyn C. Clark. Nova was found guilty of first-degree kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, second-degree luring and enticing a child, sexual assault, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.
Nova sexually assaulted the eight-year-old victim in the stairwell of her mother’s apartment building on July 3, 2013. The Bronx man represented himself as a satellite television installer and was preparing to install satellite television in the mother’s apartment.
Sentencing has been set for October 2.
Nova almost certainly faces a lengthy prison sentence. Kidnapping carries a maximum term of life in prison, aggravated sexual assault carries 20 years, sexual assault and luring carries a maximum of 10 years, and endangering the welfare of a child carries five years.
