Crime prevention through environmental design study results to be unveiled Thursday

A city team conducted a community safety audit of six Paterson neighborhoods in the 1st, 4th, and 5th wards using crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) principles whose results will be made public in a scheduled meeting at the Passaic County Community College Theater on Thursday afternoon.
The result of the study has been prepared in a final report that will be unveiled at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Passaic County Community College Theater located at 183 Ellison Street. The team participated in a one-year training program to hone their ability to understand the underlying environmental causes of crime funded by a technical assistance grant from the regional planning initiative Together North Jersey.
The trained team also produced a safe growth plan for the neighborhoods that were studied that will also be made public on Thursday. Entrance to the theater at the Passaic County Community College is through the visitor’s parking area at 183 Ellison Street.
