Backpack giveaways and basketball tournament being hosted by Nazerah’s Hoop Dreams Foundation

The foundation setup in memory of a 14-year-old city girl Nazerah Bugg whose life was untimely cut short due to gun violence is hosting a free backpack giveaway on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 3-8 p.m. at Public School No. 28.
Former Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) New York Liberty star Kym Hampton will be guest speaker at the School 28 event.
The next day the Bugg Foundation will host an all-girls basketball tournament involving players from Passaic, Bergen, and Essex counties at the Tyrone Collins Memorial Park on Presidential Boulevard near Clinton Street.
Tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on August 22. Wakenna Rosado, Euro Dough Stacks, and Tapia well perform at the event.
Bugg was an aspiring basketball star who attended International High School and played for John F. Kennedy High School’s Lady Knights.
On Sunday, August 23, semi-finals will be held at the park from 9-3 p.m. Cory North will put on a special performance.
New York Liberty Essence Carson will stop through at the event.
