City rapper Fetty Wap is hosting a back to school concert for Paterson high school students on August 27 at Bauerle Field on Oak Street.

Wap’s concert is free for city high school students. Tickets will be available at Pennington Park on August 24 beginning at 7:30 a.m. Students are requested to bring their school ID in order to receive their free tickets.

Mayor Jose “Joey” Torres and Schools Superintendent Donnie Evans made the announcement during the weekend on the mayor’s social media page. Wap, born as Willie Maxwell, grew up in the city’s public housing projects before climbing the Billboard charts with his mega hit “Trap Queen.”

The catchy song peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100 chart and sold 2.2 million tracks. Two of the Paterson rapper’s tracks currently are in the Billboard Top 10 chart and a third is in the Top 20.

Wap has been nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards this month for artist to watch and best hip-hop video.

Wap will perform alongside the entire RGF squad at the Oak Street venue.
