New Jersey’s largest anti-poverty organization the Eva’s Village has purchased a new transport van for its culinary school thanks to a $35,000 grant it received from Fairlawn-based Columbia Bank.

“We are extremely pleased to support Eva’s Village and their charitable mission to feed the poor and homeless of the greater Paterson area and help others to start a new career,” Columbia Bank’s President and CEO Thomas Kemly said.

The non-profit’s six-month vocational program provides training to adults interested in careers in the culinary profession as well as job placement in the food services industry.

“As a true community bank, Team Columbia remains committed to helping local charities make a difference in people’s lives,” Kemly.

The bank’s team often volunteers at the Eva’s Village kitchen to serve hot mails to the needy.

In the past the bank through its Columbia Bank Foundation provided grant funds that made it possible for the non-profit to purchase new tables and chairs for its dining facilities and commercial food preparation equipment for their Culinary School.
