The Passaic County Sheriff’s Office held its Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at the Passaic County Jail Chapel on Saturday to recognize 50 local community volunteers.
“The volunteers provide religious services, counseling, AA meetings, NA meetings, on their own time,” Sheriff Richard Berdnik said. “These services supplement the jail services and are provide to inmates at no cost to the taxpayer.”
Berdnik said he took questions from the group for about a quarter of an hour. The luncheon also included local spiritual leaders who spoke, offered prayer, and led the group in a song.
“Volunteers, working with the Officers and Staff of the PCJ are the true fabric of the institution and truly work hard to improve Passaic County,” Berdnik said.
