22-year-old wounded in Paterson’s third shooting of the day on Governor Street

A city man was wounded in a shooting during the morning hours of Thursday on Governor Street, less than 10 hours after multiple shootings in Paterson’s Eastside and Northside left two people wounded.
The victim, 22-year-old, was wounded in the upper leg at around 9:20 a.m. on Governor and Paterson streets. The victim told police he was riding through the area on a motorized scooter when he was approached by a gunman. The suspect pointed the weapon at the victim’s direction.
“The victim at that time abandoned the personal scooter, and as he attempted to flee on foot, he heard several gunshots fired and was struck in the upper leg,” Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said.
Murray said the victim told police he then flagged down a vehicle and a man transported him to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. The victim is in stable condition at the hospital, Murray said.
The morning shooting is the third in the city that saw two other shootings less than 10 hours ago.
One person was wounded in a shooting on McLean Boulevard and East 33rd Street at around 12:10 a.m. Another person was wounded in a second shooting on North Main Street near Cobb Park at around 1:55 a.m.
Both victims were transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. The victim of River Street shooting made it to the hospital for treatment.
