A city man and woman were wounded late Friday night as a vehicle passing by sprayed a street corner with bullets, according to the Paterson Police Department.

The 30-year-old woman and the 31-year-old man were at the intersection of Clinton and North 6th streets at around 10:40 p.m., police said.

Police arrived following reports of shots fired in the area. The two victims were located with gunshot wounds to the leg, Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said.

Murray said an initial investigation by detectives suggests the two victims were fired upon by a vehicle traveling west on Clinton Street through the intersection.

Both victims were rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. Police said the man and woman are in stable condition.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Christopher Ravallese or Detective Francisco Brito of the Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
