The Greater Bergen Community Action and the Star of Hope Ministries partnered to hand out “boxes of love” each of which contain food provisions for a full Thanksgiving meals to city families.

“We are grateful for the partnership we have with Stars of Hope Ministries in providing Thanksgiving meals to our families,” said Nancy Griner, director for Head Start at the Greater Bergen Community Action. “Both of our organizations share the same goal in wanting everyone to be able to enjoy the holiday.”

Greater Bergen Community Action runs the Paterson Head Start program providing free preschool to city families with children ages 0-5, according to the group.

The organization’s family-based program goes beyond providing preschool. It also provides free classes and programs to parents including English as Second Language courses, and American citizenship classes.

Star of Hope Ministries has been serving the city since 1913. Hackensack-based Greater Bergen Community Action took over the Paterson Head Start program in 2013.
