Paterson ranked as America’s worst college town, study

A study ranking America’s best and worst college towns ranked Paterson as the worst college town in the United States, according to the study conducted by personal finance website WalletHub.

WalletHub ranked 326 American cities and towns using 23 metrics including crime rates, cost of living, and quality of higher education. Paterson, home to the Passaic County Community College, came out last on the list at the 326th spot, according to the study.

Other cities at the bottom of the rankings were Yonkers, New York at 325; Germantown, Maryland 324; and Bridgeport, Connecticut 323, according to the study.

Among New Jersey cities Jersey City and Elizabeth were at the bottom 50 spots with ranking 282 and 308 respectively, according to the study.

WalletHub annually conducts its best and worst college town studies.

The top three best college towns in America in its 2015 study were Ann Arbor, Michigan; College Station, Texas; and Iowa City, Iowa ranked first, second, and third respectively, according to the study.
