A city man was wounded yesterday night on Hamilton Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard, according to police.
The victim, 29-year-old, suffered a superficial wound to the leg at about 9:30 p.m., said police director Jerry Speziale.
Speziale said the victim walked into St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for medical attention.
“He was treated and released,” said the director. He had previously attributed the uptick in violence in the recent weeks to the unseasonably warm winter in the city, but said shootings now, cannot be attributed to the same condition.
The director said the city has assembled a six-person team to go after groups that commit violence on city streets. He said the police officers in the team will conduct what is called “group deterrent” to monitor those part of or associated with violent groups.
