In an early morning raid on Monday, city police arrested 27-year-old city resident Tyshon Lattimore with two firearms and 26 rounds of ammunition, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Lattimore was arrested during a raid at about 6 a.m. today with assistance from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, according to police.

City police Narcotics Division recovered a 9mm handgun and a .223 caliber Model SD15 rifle loaded with 26 rounds, said the director.

Lattimore was charged with having both weapons, possession of high capacity magazine, possession of an assault weapon, and two counts of having a weapon with criminal records. He was released from state prison after serving almost two years for distributing drugs on school property on March 6th, 2013 and drug possession on September 26th, 2012, according to state records.

Lattimore was incarcerated from June 21, 2013 to April 2nd, 2015, when he was released.

“Collaboration with our county counterparts unleashed the power to accomplish today’s goal and removing two dangerous high-powered weapons from our streets,” said Speziale. “We will continue to work with our federal, state and county counterparts in an effort to remove dangerous weapons and drugs from our streets.”
