A 49-year-old city woman was arrested late Wednesday night for taking a cellular phone from a man at the American Fried Chicken, according to police.

Ronica Wade, 49, allegedly took the phone from the victim at the Broadway chicken joint, according to police.

The victim attempted to retrieve his phone, but Wade brandished a knife and attempted to stab him throughout his body, according to police.

The victim flagged down police officer Carlos Charon as he was patrolling the Straight Street and Broadway area looking for a missing youngster at about 11:53 p.m.

Charon cuffed the woman as she began to punch the victim in the face, according to police.  A knife was recovered and processed as evidence and Wade was charged with robbery, criminal attempt, and weapon possession for unlawful purpose, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Wade was also found to have three outstanding warrants totaling $1,215 out of the city, according to police.

“The officer did an outstanding job while on routine patrol being alert and aware of his surroundings and the needs of the citizens,” said Speziale.
