55-year-old Carlos Marrero was arrested a day after he allegedly inflicted life threatening injuries on a 50-year-old city man, according to police.

City resident Marrero has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Police said the victim was found inside the first floor apartment of 110 Lafayette Street with multiple stab wounds on Tuesday afternoon. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Marrero was arrested the next day as a result of an investigation by detective sergeant Ronald Van Wolde, detectives Jimmy Maldonado, and Anthony Petrazzuolo.

“The detectives involved in this investigation put the pieces together quickly and delivered swift and decisive justice,” said Speziale.
