Three county Democratic chairmen endorsed Rep. Bill Pascrell for Congress, announced the incumbent’s campaign Tuesday afternoon.

“Congressman Pascrell has served at the local level, ‎the state level, and the federal level with dedication, diligence, and ‎determination,” New Jersey Democratic State Committee chairman John Currie said. “He never backs down from a fight. Given his deep roots in Paterson, I can’t think of anyone better to serve the people of the 9th District in Congress and I offer the strongest endorsement possible for his re-election.”

Currie is also the chairman of the Passaic County Democratic Organization. He was joined by Bergen County Democratic chairman Lou Stellato and Hudson County Democratic chairman and Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto.

Pascrell won the Passaic County Democratic Organization’s endorsement on Saturday. He is the only candidate being considered for support by the Democratic Committee of Bergen County in March, according to his campaign.

“Bill Pascrell, Jr. has delivered for Bergen County and the Ninth Congressional District from day one,” Stellato said. “His zeal for the fight has never been stronger and he has been a steadfast public servant for the people of our towns.”

“Whether it be in Washington or here at home in New Jersey, Bill Pascrell is always ready to take on the fight for us and I am more than ready to show my full support for him,” said Prieto said.

Pascrell is seeking his 11th term in Congress. A former Paterson mayor, Pascrell was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1996 to represent New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District.

In 2012, Pascrell was elected to represent the redrawn 9th Congressional District which includes Passaic, Hudson, and Bergen counties.

Pascrell serves on the House Budget Committee and is the only member of the New Jersey delegation to serve on the powerful Ways and Means Committee.
