A city man was wounded in the lower leg in a shooting on East 18th Street early Sunday morning, according to police.
The 24-year-old victim was walking through East 18th Street between Broadway and Van Houten Street at about 12:17 a.m. when he heard gunshots. He was struck in the lower leg, according to police.
Police received alert of gunfire in the area and responded locating the wounded victim at the intersection. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. He is in stable condition, said police.
Less than 24 hours earlier, two men were wounded just six blocks away on East 23rd Street and Hamilton Avenue. The victims — a 23-year-old Wayne and a 30-year-old Passaic men – were shot in the arm and grazed over the head, according to police.
“I have the utmost confidence in our detectives to hold those responsible, accountable for their actions in this matter,” said police director Jerry Speziale.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office detective Michael Boone or Ceasefire Unit detective Michael Quinones at (973) 321-1342.
