A 21-year-old and a 17-year-old city residents were nabbed on drug charges during a traffic stop at the intersection of Pennsylvania and Michigan avenues on Friday afternoon, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.
Mahmoud Salameh, 21, and a juvenile, 17, have been charged with marijuana possession, manufacturing drugs, authorities said.
Salameh is also charged with distributing drugs near a school, authorities said. Salameh was driving a black Lexus on Pennsylvania Avenue with tinted windows at around4:45 p.m. when Sheriff’s Officers John Tolerico and Francesca Vollaro conducted a motor vehicle stop.
Salameh was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Authorities recovered 147 grams of marijuana contained in plastic shopping bags from the vehicle. Both he and his teenage passenger were arrested.
Authorities also seized $2,357 in suspected drug proceeds.
Salameh received several motor vehicle summonses and was released on his own recognizance. The teen was released to a parent or guardian.
