A city man was wounded in the back in a shooting on Rosa Parks Boulevard early Friday morning, according to the Paterson Police Department.

Police said the victim, 27-year-old, suffered a gunshot wound to the back at around 2 a.m. in the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Warren Street.

“At this time it appears that the victim was in the area with several others when some type of altercation ensued, and multiple shots were fired at the scene,” Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said.

Police responded to the scene but were unable to locate a victim. Minutes later, a victim arrived at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center by private vehicle, according to police.

Murray said detectives continue to investigate the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Rolando Polio or Detective Edgar Torres of the Ceasefire Unit at (973) 321-1342
