A 29-year-old man was wounded in a shooting on North Straight and North Main Streets early Saturday morning, according to police.

The victim was shot in the head at about 3:30 a.m. while he was seated inside a car on North Straight Street, said police.

Police said the gunshot was fired among a group of people who congregated in the area. The gunfire struck the victim seated in a car.

Reports of shots fired in the area triggered police, but officers were unable to locate a victim. A short time later, police received notification that a gunshot victim had arrived by private vehicle to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center emergency room.

The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the temple area, is in critical but stable condition, according to police.
