A city man was arrested on drugs and weapons charges at Eastside Park on Monday, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.
Laraji Rozier, 41-year-old, was caught on surveillance at the park as he conducted an alleged hand-to-hand drug transition from his dark colored Chevy Yukon, according to authorities.
Detectives lost sight of the buyer, but kept close watch on Rozier. A motor vehicle stop was conducted at the park. Baggies of cocaine was observed on the floor of the vehicle, authorities said.
Rozier’s vehicle had 28 zip-lock baggies of cocaine, a loaded H & R Revolver, and 23 bullets for the handgun.
Berdnik said the arrest was made possible by a tip from a concerned resident. Rozier was charged with cocaine possession, distribution, distribution 1,000 ft. of a school, gun possession, possession of gun while committing a drug offense, and certain person not to have a gun.
Authorities found Rozier owed $1,197 in outstanding child support.
“I want to commend the detectives involved in this arrest and investigation,” Berdnik said. “Today, a drug dealer and a handgun is now off our streets.”
