Man killed in police-involved shooting in Paterson

A man was shot and killed by a police officer early Friday morning on Cedar and Summer Streets, confirmed authorities.
The shooting involved two police officers who were in the area at about 1:57 a.m. when the officers were fired at by a suspect.
Police director Jerry Speziale said he could not provide details about the shooting and referred questions to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office which investigates police-involved shootings.
Neither of the police officers were injured.
Police were searching for a van that fired shots and looking for two suspects who were with the deceased man during the incident.
Passaic County prosecutor Camelia Valdes’ office said the scene has been secured by the office’s shooting response team and the investigation is active and ongoing.
Authorities have not released the name of the man killed in the incident.
