Clifton man killed himself at Totowa 4th of July party using Paterson police officer’s gun

A 22-year-old Clifton man shot and killed himself in a suicide on Monday while at the Fourth of July house party of an off-duty Paterson police officer in Totowa, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Xavier Cuevas-Soto obtained the unidentified police officer’s weapon that the officer removed from his person while at his home, authorities said.
Authorities have not released additional details about the suicide.
Detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, the Totowa Police Department, the Paterson Police Department, and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting, authorities said.
