A 34-year-old city man charged with striking and killing a boy on bicycle with a car last summer on Beech and Oak streets pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and endangering an injured victim on Thursday, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors recommend James Reinhardt receive a six-year sentence in state prison. New Jersey Superior Court Judge Adam E. Jacobs accepted the state’s recommendation.

Reinhardt was indicted by a grand jury on March 22, 2016 for allegedly striking and killing 16-year-old Javier Burgos at 6:54 p.m. on August 10, 2015 at the corner of Beech and Oak streets with a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta.

Burgos was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, but could not survive his injuries. He died at 7:26 p.m.

Reinhardt’s sentencing is scheduled for September 30, 2016.
