Three people were displaced in an early Saturday morning fire on Mill Street that extended to a second home, said deputy fire chief Michael Fleming.

Fleming said firefighters responded to the blaze at 142 Mill Street – a vacant building — at about 5:08 a.m. He said the fire extended to a structure at 144 Mill Street leaving three people displaced.

Firefighters were able to knock down the flames by 6:08 a.m., said the deputy fire chief. This was the fourth fire in the city in the past few days.

Firefighters battled blaze at 275 Union Avenue on Wednesday. Then, they extinguished two fires at the same time early Friday morning at 82 Straight Street and 537 Summer Street.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the Summer Street fire. The prosecutor on Friday night said no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, but that her office continues to investigate the fire.
