A city car repair shop manager was apprehended on Tuesday afternoon for dealing drugs out the shop, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Alejandro Nieves, 47, was arrested at Pike Motors on Montgomery Street at around 4 p.m., following a surveillance operation. 250 glassine envelopes of heroin was seized from Nieves, authorities said.

Nieves also had $56,000 in outstanding child support. He has been charged with heroin possession, distribution, and distribution close to School 10. A day earlier, detectives captured one of Nieves’s customers.

Albert Waring, 50, of Paterson, was observed accepting small objects in exchange for money on Monday at around 3 p.m. He was followed by detectives and arrested. 100 glassine envelopes of heroin was seized from him.

Waring also had $7,700 in suspected narcotics proceeds. He was charged with drug possession, distribution, and distribution close to a school. When detectives returned to the repair shop at 88 Montgomery Street to arrest Nieves he was nowhere to be found.

The next day, Nieves was arrested.

“I want to commend the detectives involved in this investigation and subsequent two arrests,” Berdnik said. “Individuals cannot shield illegal activity around legitimate business operations. No matter where drugs are sold, on a street corner or in business, arrest will be made.”
