A 20-year-old city man was shot and killed early Saturday morning on North Main Street, according to police.
Police said the victim Genico Robinson was found close to 88 North Main Street at about 1:53 a.m. after police officers responded to a flurry of gunfire in the area.
Robinson was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center via an ambulance and was pronounced dead, said police. A preliminary investigation found Robinson suffered two gunshot wounds that resulted in his death, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
August has been a particularly violent month in the city with shootings occurring every weekend. So far there have been 11 shootings this month.
“I’m confident this is going to be solved,” said police director Jerry Speziale. He said parents of the victim responded to the hospital and were informed of the death of their son.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and detective sergeant Abelmoni Hamdeh continue to investigate the homicide, said the director. No arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, said prosecutors.
