Two people were wounded in separate shootings on Wednesday night in the northern part of the city, according to police.

Police said a 43-year-old man was struck in the arm on North Main and Clinton Streets in a possible drive-by shooting at about 9:30 p.m.

At 11:40 p.m. on Jefferson and North Main Streets a second victim was shot in the leg, said police.

Police did not provide much detail about the second victim. The victim in the first shooting parked his vehicle at the intersection and was walking away when he heard multiple shots fired and was struck at that time, said police.

The 43-year-old victim is in stable condition at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. The victim in the second shooting was treated and released from hospital.

Police said the second victim was uncooperative about the particulars of the shooting; however, it appears the victim was on North Main Street near Jefferson Street when shots were fired one of them landing on his leg.

So far this month 5 people have been wounded and 1 person was shot dead continuing a violent trend that began at the start of August.

Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives Michael Quinones or Francisco Brito of the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
