Off-duty Paterson fireman allegedly broke man’s jaw in fight, say police

A city fireman has been charged with aggravated assault for breaking the jaw of a man in an altercation last month, said police director Jerry Speziale.
Kenneth Brewington, 39, was off-duty when an altercation occurred on Angela Lane and Ryerson Avenue on August 3rd, 2016.
Police said Brewington was involved in a fight with a 27-year-old man. Detective Jimmy Maldonado investigated the incident and charged Brewington with aggravated assault, said police.
The firefighter turned himself into police on Monday. Brewing ton has been employed by the city’s fire department since 2006, according to city records.
