A blaze that began at a vacant two-story home on Sunday afternoon spread to adjacent properties leaving four properties damaged, a firefighter, and a civilian injured, said deputy fire chief Ryan Murray.

Murray said the firefighter and the civilian suffered minor injuries at the scene. The fire was reported at about 4 p.m.

“We had heavy fire on arrival,” said the deputy chief. He said the fire began at 343 Hamilton Avenue and spread to 341 and 345 Hamilton Avenue.

The aluminum siding of 339 Hamilton Avenue sustained fire damage, said Murray. 341 and 345 Hamilton Avenue are both two-family homes, according to city records.

Firefighter brought the four-alarm blaze under control by 6:20 p.m., according to fire officials.

Murray said the vacant structure sustained heavy fire damage and there was a partial collapse. He said firefighters remain on the scene monitoring hot spots.

It’s not yet clear how many people have been displaced as a result of the fire.
