Garfield man wanted on burglary charges in Totowa, Woodland Park arrested in Paterson

A Garfield man wanted by authorities on 28 burglary, theft, and criminal trespass charges out of Totowa and Woodland Park was arrested Tuesday evening in Paterson, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

James Pellett, 27-year-old, was found walking away from an abandoned home in the area of Godwin Avenue and Straight Street. Authorities received information Pellett is known to hang around and sleep in the back of abandoned buildings on Godwin Avenue.

Detectives actively searched for him in the area at around 7:30 p.m. He allegedly conducted a string of motor vehicle burglaries with several accomplices in Totowa and Woodland Park, authorities said.

Pellett was processed at the Totowa Police Department and transported to the Passaic County Jail. He is being held without bail. Authorities found five outstanding warrants out of Bergen County Drug Court, Clifton, South Hackensack, and Tinton Falls.

Authorities said there was a $2,500 hypodermic syringe possession and a $2,500 false reports to law enforcement warrants out of Clifton. He had a $1,500 warrants for use or possession with intent to use out of South Hackensack, and a $400 marijuana possession warrant out of Tinton Falls.
