A 37-year-old city man was wounded in a shooting inside his home early Saturday morning when two gunmen confronted him as he entered his home on Robert Street, according to police.

Police said two armed suspects forced a woman entering her home through the back entrance into the house and tied her up. The victim arrived and entered his home and was confronted by the armed suspects, said police.

Officers responded to shots fired at the home at 12:45 a.m. Police said one of the armed suspects fired several shots at the man wounding him in the upper torso. The suspects fled the residence after firing the shots.

Police said the victim drove himself to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. He is in stable condition, said police.

Earlier in the night a man was wounded in a police-involved shooting on Oak and Madison Streets, police said. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating that incident, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Authorities have not released particulars of the police-involved shooting. The prosecutor’s office has said the investigation is “active and ongoing.”

Detectives are canvassing the vicinity of Robert Street and identifying area surveillance cameras. Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives Francisco Brito or Chris Ravallese of the Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
