The drug raid at a second floor apartment of an East 26th Street home led to the arrest of three alleged drug dealers and the confiscation of 1,680 glassines of heroin on Friday, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Police raided 441 East 26th Street and arrested city residents Demetrius McCutchen, 40, of East 26th Street; Jerome Alexander, 35, of East 26th Street; and Damien Thompson, 35, of East 25th Street, said the director.

McCutchen and Alexander, both of whom lived at 441 East 26th Street, had 16 grams of crack-cocaine, 1,680 glassines of heroin, 2 bottles of Promethazine, and 17 baggies of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, said police.

Both men face 13 drug charges. Police charged Thompson with having 6 baggie of marijuana, intent to deal drugs, and intent to distribute close to School 1, said the director.

The drug bust resulted from numerous complaints from residents to the police director and police chief, said the director. He said council members also complained about drug dealing in the area which led to the raid.

439-441 East 26th Street is a two family home with two garages owned by North Jersey Holding IV LLC out of West Nyack, New York, according to property records. City residents often complain about out-of-town landlords renting to alleged drug dealers and degenerating quality of life in their neighborhoods.

“The narcotics unit is vigorously attacking from all angles and will pursue anyone involved with illegal drugs in our city,” said Speziale.
