A city woman and a Fair Lawn man were apprehended Sunday evening outside of BP Gas Station on Broadway driving in a vehicle freshly stolen out of New York City, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.
Leslie Wilson, 35, and Gregory Jones, 53, were arrested at around 7:52 p.m. at the gas station on Broadway and Summer Street. Authorities said Wilson was in the driver seat of the stolen vehicle while Jones was in the passenger seat of the stolen white 2006 Subaru Legacy that was entered as stolen by New York City Police Department at 7:42 p.m.
Passaic County Sheriff’s Officer Christopher Schiavo was on Market Street and Memorial Drive when his vehicle’s Lojack system activated alerting him to a stolen vehicle in the area. He alerted sheriff’s headquarters to the stolen vehicle.
Officer Donald Reddin responded to the scene. Both officers arrested Wilson and Jones. Wilson was charged with receiving stolen property and Jones was charged with unlawful taking by means of conveyance.
Authorities found Wilson had a $500 outstanding warrant out of Paterson court. Jones had four outstanding criminal and traffic warrants out of Paterson and Jersey City. Jones had $3,100 outstanding out of Paterson and $500 outstanding warrant out of Jersey City, authorities said.
Berdnik said both were transported to Paterson police cellblock after processing.
