Police raided the New Ranchi City bar on Market Street dismantling a cockfighting ring and seizing 21 grams of crack-cocaine on Tuesday, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Cesar Toribio, 43, and Felix Grullon, 50, both city residents, were arrested on various charges, said the director. Toribio works as a bartender at 472 Market Street while Grullon is the business’ owner.

Police also seized 8 Endocet pills. Three live roosters and cockfighting apparel was discovered in the basement of the establishment, said the director.

Police found gambling records at the location. A search of Torbio’s home led to the confiscation of a Colt double eagle series .45 caliber handgun, said police.

Speziale said the city’s animal control responded to the scene and New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was contacted.

Toribio and Grullon have been charged with maintaining a gambling resort, promoting gambling, possession of gambling devices, and possession of gambling records.

The bartender is also charged with having 4 baggies of coacine, intent to distribute, and intent to distribute close to New Roberto Clemente School. He was also charged with handgun possession without a permit.

The owner was also charged with having hypodermic syringes. Police confiscated $1,321 from him and another $334 from the bartender, said police.
