Detectives arrested 22-year-old Eric Polanco at a Park Avenue home on Saturday for his alleged involvement in a shooting at an industrial area on East 42nd and Market Streets in the summer that left three people with gunshot wounds.

Police have been searching for Polanco without success until information was received on Saturday that the wanted man was inside a residence on Park Avenue. Detectives setup surveillance of the home and the area.

Polanco was observed answering the door at the residence. Police left their surveillance post and attempted to capture him outside of the home. He saw detectives closing in, re-entered the residence with detectives in pursuit behind him.

Police said Polanco tried to unsuccessfully hide himself inside the bathroom. He was arrested by detectives Edgar Torres, Michael Boone, and the Paterson Police Emergency Response Unit. Boone is a detective at the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Polanco is being held at the police cell block on attempted murder and weapons charges pending court proceeding and bail setting, said police. He was identified as the actor in the August 4th, 2016 triple shooting.

Police said at the time a gunman approached the large gathering at the industrial area at about 5:20 a.m. and opened fire. Three men were injured in the non-fatal shooting incident. A 31-year-old man was shot in the torso and leg; a 23-year-old man was shot in the torso; and a 19-year-old man was shot in the arm, said police at the time.

“The relentless pursuit by the detectives of this individual has removed another violent felon from our streets in our goal of making a safer Paterson,” said police director Jerry Speziale.
