Gunfire from street wounds Paterson woman inside her Spring Street home

A woman was wounded when gunfire from the street entered her Spring Street home early Saturday morning, according to police.

Police said there was a gun battle between at least two people on Spring Street by 20th Avenue at about 3:15 a.m. A projectile from exchange of gunfire on the street entered the woman’s residence and struck her in the foot, said police.

The woman, who police identified as an adult female, was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for medical attention. She was treated and released, said police.

This is the city’s sixth shooting in 2017.

Police said investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

“We take this incident very serious and those responsible will be vigorously pursued,” said police director Jerry Speziale. Detectives are seeking community assistance to identity those involved in the incident.
