Paterson police make arrest in Auburn Street shooting of two boys

A police officer standing at the entrance of 87 Auburn Street as the house is being boarded up on Feb. 14th, 2017.

Police arrested and charged 23-year-old Jarvis Porter with murder and attempted murder on Wednesday afternoon for the killing of a 16-year-old and wounding of a 17-year-old boy at a drug house on Auburn Street.

Porter has been charged with murder, attempted murder, two counts of robbery, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, and two counts of possession for an unlawful purpose, said police.

Detectives arrested Porter at about 4 p.m. on Wednesday for his role in the February 4th, 2017 shooting at 87 Auburn Street. He allegedly killed 16-year-old Ka’Sir Davis and wounded a 17-year-old boy.

The 17-year-old was treated and released from the hospital, said police. The city has shut down the multi-story home in the roughest section of Paterson where the shooting occurred after citing the building as an imminent hazard.

Police continue to investigate the shooting and are asking anyone with information to contact detectives at 973-321-1120.
