Detectives arrested a 23-year-old city man and charged him with burglarizing eight homes.

Daniel Acevedo entered the homes of unsuspecting residents early in the morning while occupants were sound asleep over the past week.

Detectives identified a pattern in Acevedo’s operations. A team led by detective Al Bermudez identified the perpetrator and arrested him at his Beech Street home at about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Acevedo targeted homes not far from his residence. He broke into homes on Kathy’s Court, Madison Street, Summer Street, Lewis Street, Chestnut Street, Oak Street, 21st Avenue, and 20th Avenue, according to police.

He also conducted a robbery on Beech and Oak Streets, said police. He was charged with eight burglaries and one robbery.

Detectives Bermudez, Richard Martinez, Steve Leishman, and detective sergeant Abe Hamdeh conducted interviews, canvassed the area to catch Acevedo. Patrol officer Edwin Morillo supplied them with information that assisted in identifying the suspect.

Police continue to investigate Acevedo’s burglaries.
