Paterson man wounded in Main Street shooting

A 33-year-old city man was injured in a shooting on Main Street late Thursday night, according to police.
Police said the victim was wounded outside of 415 Main Street at about 11:45 p.m. He was able to get himself transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Police director Jerry Speziale said the victim refused treatment and was released from the hospital.
This is the city’s 17th shooting in 2017. 13 people have been wounded in shootings. There have been 5 homicides in Paterson this year so far; 4 were victims of gun violence and 1 was killed in a stabbing.

Correction (3/11/2017): A previous version of this report erroneously stated there have been 16 shootings in 2017. In fact, this is Paterson's 17th shooting. Erroneously omitted was a police-involved shooting on Main Street.
