2 bodies found in burning car on East 28th Street; Paterson police investigating as double homicide

A car engulfed in fire on East 28th Street early Friday morning contained the bodies of two homicide victims, according to police.

Police said firefighters responded to a car on fire at 2 a.m. on East 28th Street between Broadway and 14th Avenue. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and discovered two unidentified bodies inside the vehicle, said police.

Police officers secured the crime scene outside of 570 East 28th Street. Detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Paterson Police, and Paterson Fire’s arson investigators began investigating the incident, said police.

The two unidentified victims were taken to the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office for identification using medical records.
