Paterson man killed in Madison Street shooting identified

The man killed in a broad daylight shooting on Madison Street on Monday has been identified as 39-year-old Juan Martinez.
Martinez was shot on Madison and Essex streets at around 4:45 p.m. He was initially injured and was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment, but died from his injuries, authorities said.
Police have not made any arrests at this time, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office. This was Paterson’s 12th homicide in 2017.
There were multiple people in the area when the shooting occurred. Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward.
