Firefighters extinguished an early Sunday morning blaze at a vacant building on East 23rd Street, according to deputy fire chief Pablo Del Valle.
The single-alarm fire was reported at 2:08 a.m. at 431 East 23rd Street. Firefighters had the blaze that started at the rear wall of the building under control within an hour, said the deputy chief.
Del Valle said firefighters searched the inside of the building for people. All searches were clear, he said.
There were no exposures to surrounding buildings and no one was injured, said Del Valle. Cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
